Climate Crisis and Carbon Footprint Seminar in Cooperation with TAU-SEM & Allianz Teknik
In the seminar given by Allianz Teknik, one of the business partners of TAU-SEM, on December 2, 2024, Environmental Engineer Nilay Çakır emphasized the effects of climate change in the world, the measures to be taken and global risks.
Secretary General Özgür Ali Şirin, academicians and students attended the seminar. In her opening speech, TAU-SEM Director Prof. Dr. Elif Nuroğlu gave information about the trainings and seminars organized by TAU-SEM within the scope of social responsibility awareness and stated that climate change in the world causes many social, economic, political and environmental problems. She stated that the situation also offers students studying in different fields of universities the opportunity to produce projects.
Environmental Engineer Nilay Çakır talked about the effects of climate change in the world. Çakır emphasized the global risks of global warming and gave detailed information on greenhouse gases. She talked about the regulations in the EU and Turkey. The training also covered corporate/individual carbon footprint sources and corporate carbon information was provided on how the footprint is calculated. Çakır stated that each sector should create new action plans on climate change by taking into account the risks related to itself and warned that individual efforts are of great importance.
TAU-SEM - 3rd Round of Addworx Accounting Training Application Process Started
The application process for the third semester of the online Financial Accounting and Year-End Closing Transactions trainings, which are provided free of charge to TGU students within the scope of TAU-SEM cooperation with Addworx, a consultancy company operating in Berlin, started on Wednesday, December 4.
Applications for the trainings, which will be given free of charge to third and fourth year students of TGU Economics, Business Administration and Industrial Engineering Departments, will be collected between December 4-27, 2024, and as a result of the initial evaluations to be made, students will be interviewed by Addworx officials on January 6, 2025 to determine their German language level.
The training will be held between February 17 - March 7, 2025 and students who attend at least 80% of the courses will be presented with a certificate of participation by DUT Wirtschaftsfachschule Berlin, who will provide the training, and students who succeed in the exam to be held at the end of the training will be presented with a certificate of achievement.
TGU Summer School for High School Students
TGU 2024 High School Summer School Program, which provides high school students with the experience of 'BECOMING A UNIVERSITY STUDENT' in the lush green TGU Campus integrated with nature, was held in July.
With the program designed by TAU-SEM, high school students received education at TGU's campus in Beykoz between July 22 and August 2, 2024. Students had the opportunity to improve their language skills with German lessons taught by expert academics, and their computer skills with Phyton and Matlab Programming lessons.
The program, which was enriched with sports activities, cultural activities, seminars and music activities, offered students the chance to have an educational and enjoyable university experience. At the end of the program, trainees were presented with certificates of participation.
Climate Model Analysis Training
'Climate Model Analysis Training' organized by TAU-SEM was held at TGU Research Laboratories Application and Research Center (ALUAM) between 10 May - 11 June 2024.
TGU Faculty of Science Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dr. Merja Helena Tölle gave the free training in English and German, which will provide skills in examining and evaluating the outputs of climate models that enable the evaluation of social, ethical, economic, political and environmental problems and consequences arising from the phenomenon of climate change. TAU-SEM presented certificates of participation to the students who successfully completed the training and submitted their reports.
2nd Datev Training Certificate Ceremony
Students who succeeded in the DATEV Training organized in cooperation with TAU-SEM / ADDWORX received their certificates at a ceremony.
Students who succeeded in the Financial Accounting and Year-End Closing Transactions Training were presented their certificates at a ceremony held on April 30, 2024 at TGU SFL Conference Hall. TGU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, ADDWORX Consulting firm co-founders Mustafa Özal and Sinan İlhan, K-TGU International Relations Coordinator Dr. Stefan Bildhauer, academicians and students attended the ceremony.
Within the framework of the cooperation agreement signed between TAU-SEM and German-based ADDWORX in 2022, the training is provided free of charge and students who successfully complete the training are presented with a certificate by DUT Wirtschaftsfachschule Berlin.
Second 'Application Weighted Carbon Footprint Calculation Training' in cooperation with TAU-SEM and Allianz Teknik
The second 'Application Weighted Carbon Footprint Calculation Training' organized in cooperation with TAU-SEM and Allianz Teknik was held in January 2024.
The certified training, which is a joint project of TAU-SEM and Allianz Teknik, was jointly delivered by Prof. Dr. Aykut Kibritçioğlu, Head of TGU Economics Department, Nilay Çakır, Environmental Engineer and Simge Var, Environmental and Civil Engineer from Allianz Teknik. The training was held at Allianz Teknik Earthquake & Fire Testing and Training Center located on the Turkish-German University Campus.
As of October 2023, the training, which attracted high interest due to the Border Carbon Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), which obliges companies exporting from Turkey to the European Union in 6 sectors to report their carbon footprints, will continue to be given at regular intervals.
E-Commerce and ETSY Seminar Organized by TAU-SEM
In the event organized by TAU-SEM on January 3, 2024, ETSY-Turkey E-Commerce Manager and 3rd year student of TGU Department of Economics, Doğukan Bayraktar gave a seminar titled 'How Do I Take My Brand Globally? E-Commerce and ETSY'.
Students and TGU members attended the seminar held at the SFL Conference Hall of Turkish-German University. In the first part of his speech, Bayraktar gave the audience basic information on the phenomenon of E-Commerce and business models in E-Commerce, and in the other half of the seminar, he made a detailed presentation on business development on the ETSY platform.
Bayraktar gave information about what to pay attention to when trading on the platform, the differences of ETSY from other marketplaces, the programs that can be used during business, and emphasized what needs to be done to be successful on the platform and the tricks to increase sales.
Seminar on Entrepreneurship by Göksal İzci
In the event organized by TAU-SEM, Barista OL founder Göksal İzci gave a seminar titled 'Business Development and Digital Solutions in Startups' on 7 December 2023.
Many TGU students and academicians attended the seminar held at the SFL Conference Hall of Turkish-German University. In the first part of his speech, İzci shared his own entrepreneurship experiences and especially emphasized the Kahvengelsin.com and Baristaol.com projects he founded. Comparing the situation of online businesses before and after the pandemic, İzci emphasized points such as creative thinking, taking quick action, and improving corporate reputation.
Following the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to İzci, TAU-SEM Director Prof. Dr. Elif Nuroğlu gave the good news that a cooperation protocol is being prepared with Gizci A.Ş., owned by İzci, and gave information about the 'Entrepreneurship and Management Program in the Coffee Sector' to be held in partnership with the two organizations.
Entrepreneurship and Management Program in the Coffee Sector
In cooperation with TAU-SEM and GİZCİ A.Ş., the 'Entrepreneurship and Management Program in the Coffee Sector' was launched.
TGU students can benefit from the program, which aims to provide participants with information about coffee, to inform those who want to establish a business or adapt their existing business to the coffee sector, to provide students with an alternative to earn additional income during their domestic / international education, to provide a profession to those who do not have a profession with barista training and to make them coffee experts.
The training, which will include theoretical and practical courses, lasts 7 days in total.
Carbon Footprint Calculation Training in Collaboration with Allianz Teknik
The certified 'Application Based Corporate Carbon Footprint Calculation Training' organized in cooperation with TAU-SEM and Allianz Teknik was launched on September 19, 2023.
The training lasted for two days, where theoretical explanations on climate crisis, ISO 14064 standard, EU Green Deal, Carbon Tax at the Border, Emission Trading System were supported by applications and carbon footprint calculations. The training, which was held at Allianz Teknik Earthquake & Fire Test and Training Center at the Turkish-German University (TGU) Campus in Beykoz, differed from other trainings in the sector with its application-oriented aspect.
Participants of the training given by Environmental Engineer Nilay Çakır and Environmental & Civil Engineer Simge Var from Allianz Teknik and Prof. Dr. Aykut Kibritçioğlu, Head of the Department of Economics at Turkish-German University, were presented certificates by TAÜ-SEM.
We hosted Beykoz Science High School within the scope of TAU-SEM/MEB Seminar Series
On Thursday, May 11, 2023, TGU / Beykoz District Directorate of National Education organized an event at TAU for the students of Beykoz Science High School within the scope of social support.
Organized by TAU-SEM (TGU Continuing Education Application and Research Center) and contributed by the Press and Public Relations Coordinatorship, the event was attended by 90 students and teachers of Beykoz Science High School and Zeynep Altıneş from the Beykoz District Directorate of MEB.
After the introduction of the university, Dr. Naime Özben Önhon, Lecturer at TGU Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics, gave a seminar titled 'Computer Vision' to high school students.
The Cooperation Between TAU-SEM and ADDWORX Has Reached a New Level.
Students who completed the 'Financial Accounting and Year-End Closing Procedures Training' provided free of charge to TGU students by DUT Wirtschaftsfachhochschule Berlin within the scope of cooperation received their certificates at a ceremony.
The Certificate Ceremony for the Financial Accounting and Year-End Closing Procedures Training, organized in cooperation with TAU-SEM / Addworx Consulting Firm, was held on March 14, 2023 at TGU School of Foreign Languages Conference Hall. The ceremony was attended by our Rector Prof. Dr. Cemal Yıldız, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Aysel Uzuntaş, Addworx Co-Founder Sinan İlhan, TAU-SEM Director Prof. Dr. Elif Nuroğlu, academicians and students of the Department of Economics and Business Administration.
Four of the students who successfully completed the free training program were employed by Addworx Company.
TAU-SEM / ADDWORX Collaboration Signing and Launch Day
On December 20, 2022, a cooperation protocol in education was signed between TAU-SEM and the German company Addworx and the training to be provided by the company was launched.
Within the scope of the cooperation protocol signed by TAU-SEM Director Prof. Dr. Elif Nuroğlu and Sinan İlhan, one of the founding partners of ADDWORX Company of German origin, the free DATEV accounting software training process to be given to the students of the Department of Economics and Business Administration of the Turkish-German University by DUT Wirtschaftsfachschule Berlin through the company has started.
'Fundamentals of Fire Engineering' Training in Cooperation with TAU-SEM and Allianz Turkey Academy
We organized a certified and applied training program within the scope of the cooperation between TAU-SEM and Allianz Turkey Academy. Participants in the training program on 'Fundamentals of Fire Engineering' held on 16 November 2022 had the opportunity to both contribute to their areas of expertise and support all the theoretical topics with practical studies.
