English Academic Writing Techniques Course (B1 and Above Level)

ONLINE ENGLISH ACADEMIC WRITING TECHNIQUES COURSE PROGRAMME
 
Registrations will be accepted during the pre-registration period for the English Academic Writing Techniques course, which will be taught online by Turkish-German University SFL instructors at TAU-SEM. In case of reaching the quorum of trainees (minimum 15 people), the English Academic Writing Techniques course will be opened. 
If the trainee has knowledge of English, he/she can take the placement test and start the course if he/she is determined to be at intermediate or above level. 

SCOPE OF THE PROGRAMME

The training is given as a 10-week programme for the level specified in the table.

English Academic Writing Techniques	It is suitable for those who have an English level of B1 and above, those who score 70 and above from YDS and those who want to make an academic career / study and those who plan to do so.	10 Weeks 80 Hours

1	A general discussion on what we mean by the term academic writing (acwri) & (mis)conceptions associated with this term. Discussion and brainstorming sessions are held: How is writing different from speaking? How is academic writing different from other forms of writing? ACWRI: Audience, Purpose/Strategy, Organization& Style, Flow, Presentation& Positioning

3	Paraphrasing revisited; General-to-Specific Approach in Academic Writing
4	General-to-Specific Approach in Academic Writing
5	Problem-to-Solution Movement
6	Writing Subtasks: Data commentaries I
7	Writing Subtasks: Data commentaries II
8	Overall Rhetorical Characteristics of a Research Paper (RP) I
9	Overall Rhetorical Characteristics of a Research Paper (RP) II
10	Overall Rhetorical Characteristics of a Research Paper (RP) III

ENGLISH ACADEMIC WRITING TECHNIQUES COURSE

Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 18:00 and 21:30, and Weekend classes will be held on Saturdays and Sundays between 09:30-13:00.

FEE AND PAYMENT INFORMATION

The fee for the Online English Academic Writing Techniques Course, which lasts ten weeks and covers 80 lesson hours: 3.000 TL.

Payments will be deposited on behalf of the Turkish-German University Revolving Fund Management Directorate, Halkbank Beykoz Branch, with the IBAN number in the same mail when the 'class has been opened' e-mail is sent to the candidates.

Name - Surname and 'English Academic Writing Techniques Course Fee' will be written in the explanation section.

*If the fees deposited to the account will not be deposited by the trainee himself/herself, the identity (Name, Surname and TR Identity No) and contact information of the person who deposited the course fee to the bank account should be found and the trainee's Name-Surname and 'English Academic Writing Techniques Course Fee' should be written in the Description section.

ENGLISH ACADEMIC WRITING TECHNIQUES COURSE OPENING AND EXECUTION CONDITIONS

- The responsibility for the content of the programme belongs to the relevant faculty member.

- In the event that the programme is not opened due to insufficient number of participants (15 participants) or if the programme cannot be carried out due to legal or extraordinary reasons, the participants who have paid the fee will be refunded according to the decision of the relevant Board and/or Unit of TAU. No interest or similar delay compensation is paid in the refund of the participation fee.

- No full or partial refund is made to those who register and do not attend the courses. In cases where the fee refund is decided by TAU-SEM, the relevant account is refunded within 60 days. 

- In other matters, the relevant regulations and decisions to be taken by TAU-SEM Board of Directors are valid.

- Certain discounts are applied to TAU staff and their 1st degree relatives, TAU students, those attending with their spouse or siblings, relatives of martyrs and veterans.

- Those who register for the programme are deemed to have accepted these conditions.
