The two-day 'Application-Based Carbon Footprint Calculation Training', organized in cooperation with TAU-SEM and Allianz Teknik, was completed on 20.09.2023.
The certified 'Application-Based Carbon Footprint Calculation Training', which is a joint project of TAU-SEM and Allianz Teknik, was held on 19-20 September 2023 at Allianz Teknik's Earthquake & Fire Testing and Training Center located in Beykoz Campus of the Turkish-German University (TGU).
The training, in which theoretical explanations on the subjects of Climate Crisis, ISO 14064 standard, EU Green Deal, Border Carbon Tax and Emission Trading System are supported by applications and carbon footprint calculations, were given by Prof. Dr. Aykut Kibritçioğlu from the Department of Economics of TGU, Environmental Engineer Nilay Çakır and Environmental and Civil Engineer Simge Var from Allianz Teknik.
The training program, which attracted the attention of process leaders in greenhouse gas and carbon footprint calculations, environmental engineers, company representatives, academicians and undergraduate/master's and doctoral students, lasted two days.
Process leaders responsible for greenhouse gas and carbon footprint calculations, environmental engineers, company representatives, academicians, and undergraduate/master's and doctoral students showed great interest in the program.
The training has a great importance for Turkey, which is a country that will be highly affected by the Borderline Carbon Regulation Mechanism, which will come into force in 6 sectors (iron-steel, aluminum, cement, fertilizer, electricity and hydrogen) as of January 1, 2026 and is expected to be valid in all sectors in the following years. As it is known, the European Union requires measuring and documenting the carbon footprint of the products to be imported into the union in the mentioned 6 sectors as of October 2023.
This training, which is carried out in cooperation with TAU-SEM and Allianz Teknik, is planned to be given at regular intervals.
