Climate Crisis and Carbon Footprint Seminar was held in cooperation with TAU-SEM & Allianz Teknik

In the seminar given by Allianz Teknik, one of the business partners of TAU-SEM, on December 2, 2024, Environmental Engineer Nilay Çakır emphasized the effects of climate change in the world, the measures to be taken and global risks.
Özgür Ali Şirin, Secretary General of TGU, academicians and many students attended the seminar held at the Conference Hall of the School of Foreign Languages of Turkish-German University. Delivering the opening speech of the event, TAU-SEM Director Prof. Dr. Elif Nuroğlu gave information about the trainings and seminars organized by TAU-SEM within the scope of social responsibility awareness. Prof. Dr. Nuroğlu stated that climate change in the world causes many social, economic, political and environmental problems and that this situation also offers students studying in different fields of universities the opportunity to produce projects.
Nilay Çakır, Environmental Engineer from Allianz Teknik, started the seminar with general information on climate change and explained the effects of climate change in the world. Emphasizing the global risks of global warming and providing detailed information on greenhouse gases, Çakır talked about the regulations in the European Union and Turkey. In the second half of the training, where ecological and carbon footprints were defined, information was provided on corporate/individual carbon footprint sources and how corporate carbon footprint is calculated. Çakır concluded her speech by stating that each sector should create new action plans on climate change by taking into account the risks related to itself and warned that individual efforts are of great importance.
The seminar, which attracted great interest from the students, ended with the presentation of a certificate of appreciation to the speaker Nilay Çakır by TAU-SEM Director.
