TGU High School Summer School Continues

Designed to provide high school students with the experience of studying in a university environment, the 2024 TGU High School Summer School started on Monday, July 22 with an orientation to students and parents and the first week of the program was completed on Friday, July 26.
Within the scope of the program, which aims to provide both academic education and quality time, students started the day with 4 lessons of German language education. Within the scope of the curriculum, which aims to develop the four basic skills of language education, students were given an education supported by activities such as mise-en-scenes and film screenings in the pocket cinema.
With the Python training given in the Computer Laboratory at TGU Research Laboratories Application and Research Center (ALUAM) three days a week, students were informed about the basics of programming and algorithms, and studies on the use of artificial intelligence were carried out.
As part of the seminar series of the program, Ahmet Yükseltürk from the Faculty of Engineering gave a presentation titled 'Multi-objective Decision Making' on July 23, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Posos Devrani from the Faculty of Culture and Social Sciences gave an interactive seminar on 'Media Literacy' on July 25.
On July 25, students visited the Allianz Teknik Earthquake & Fire Testing and Training Center located on TGU Campus. While the students experienced an earthquake with the two-way earthquake simulation device, which was transformed into a kitchen environment, where real earthquake data experienced in our country were simulated, they were informed by the engineers in charge of the institution about what to do before, during and after the earthquake and the correct behavior.
Within the scope of sports activities, table tennis and chess tournaments were held, while basketball, football and volleyball matches were held in the open sports area of TGU. In the sports program, which also included American football, students learned the rules, basic kicks and blocking techniques of this sport.
In the dance classes designed by TGU Dance Club, which blended music and movement, students were explained the cultural characteristics of Social Latin Dance and shown the basic figures.
The 2024 High School Summer School will continue until August 2nd.
